Another Drabble
Title: There Is No Happy Love
Day/Theme: August 10th - "My heart sways slowly, ever so slowly"
Series: Monkey Island
Character: Minnie Goodsoup
Rating: PG
“I’m tellin’ you, lass,” the pirate wiped some grog from his mouth with the back of his sleeve, “That LeChuck isn’t someone you want to get involved with.”
“Why?” Minnie asked curiously, she knew her mother would be against the relationship but why would a random pirate care about it?
“He’s a dangerous man and, anyway, he loves that Elaine Marley.”
“Elaine Marley? From Melee Island?” Minnie felt as if her heart had suddenly skipped a few beats.
“That’s the one.” The pirate replied simply, “You seem like a decent enough lass so I’m only warnin’ you for your own good, you can do far better than a bilge rat like LeChuck.”
Minnie placed a fist on her chest as she felt a tiny sting of pain in her heart, “You don’t know anything.” She said feebly.
“Trust me, lass, he loves Elaine Marley and I expect he’ll run back to her any day now.”
That night, Minnie Goodsoup cried in her bed, she knew she’d have to confront her love about this but this only upset her slightly. What truly made her cry was the dull ache in her heart, the feeling that it was beating far too slow, struggling and swaying inside of her, as if the heart itself was tired and crying.
