[August 1, 2007][Tales of Phantasia] Love Training
Title: Love Training
Day/Theme: August 1, 2007 "Who knocks at my heart?"
Series: Tales of Phantasia
Character/Pairing: one-sided Suzu/Claus
Rating: G
He was so tall and brave- he didn't seem to flinch before anything, appearing relatively unfazed as he trailed his younger and more impetuous companions around Japoni. Suzu kept her round eyes on his funny pointed hat as it bobbed up and down around bushes, over fences, and through doorways.
"He's so..." she said to herself thoughtfully, trying to put the feeling in her throbbing heart into words, "So...nice." Of course, Claus wasn't just "nice," but the emotion welling up within her heart was very new to her and to say that the summoner was handsome, brave, charming, talented, and intelligent seemed a bit much.
Although the heroes' return visit was soured by the recent deaths of her parents, Suzu was all too happy to lift her mood by making Claus a snack to enjoy in the hot spring, much to the consternation of his fussy comrade Chester. He had asked so sweetly...and it gave her an excellent excuse to see what he looked like without very much on. For someone who relied so little on physical force in battle, he was in very good shape. He was much older than Suzu, but he was still young.
Suzu knew she had to keep her crush a secret from her grandfather, who would not approve of such a silly show of emotion. He would probably think it would interfere with her training. But she was a green twig of a girl and a smart one at that, and nothing would interfere with the goals she set for herself. She went into her room and took out the hand mirror she gazed into while fixing her hair and practiced keeping her face from turning pink when she thought about Claus. The experiment worked fairly well, though when her grandfather saw her staring into the mirror, he told her she was too young to be vain.
The final joy was being able to join Cress and his group of heroes. Suzu trailed along like Claus' shadow, enjoying watching the wind blow his hair and stopping any enemy that drew too near to him dead in its tracks.
"Heh heh, you're pretty quick," he chuckled as Suzu dispatched a pesky wasp.
"Thank you!" Suzu called, darting away to assist Mint with a troublesome orcrot. Her training had been successful. His compliments had not given her any physical reaction but a smile.
