[June 17, 2007][Suikoden] Slept In, But Still Tired

Title: Slept In, But Still Tired
Day/Theme: June 17, 2007 "the day-star arise in your hearts"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Yun, Yumi
Rating: G

I was pretty groggy when I woke up, and I stayed that way for some time. I don't know what I dreamed that night before, but I had been seeing a lot of visions lately and, unlike regular dreams, they really take it out of me. I splashed water on my face from the bowl beside my bed, but its effect was negligible. I had a feeling it was going to take me a while to really wake up.

I stumbled down the stairs, but it appeared that my sisters were already up and out of the house. I stepped out onto the porch and squinted into the bright daylight. A low-hanging branch playfully swatted the back of my dozy head with its multi-pointed leaves.

"Hey," I giggled, "Don't go deciding to wake me up by pushing me off the porch!"

"Who're you lookin' for, Yun?" asked Yuka as she passed by with two buckets of water hanging over a pole on her shoulder.

"Yuiri or Yumi." I tried not to yawn.

"Yuiri's off checking the boundaries of the village's protection. But I think Yumi's just praying at the shrine," Yuka informed me.

"Thank you," I said and rubbed my eyes for what seemed like the fifteenth time. I still felt like I could go back inside, head upstairs, curl up in my warm bed and go straight to sleep. I shook my head, admonishing myself. It was already quite bright outside and the village was buzzing with its usual pleasantly busy energy. I was not unhappy.

I headed for the shrine, feeling the burden of my tiredness eased by the gentle warmth filtering down through the trees. One of the stone steps slid a bit beneath me and I stepped awkwardly onto the mossy soil to get my balance. I could see Yumi now and she was kneeling at the shrine and talking quietly. She had strong spiritual powers herself, but I do not think she was actually holding a conversation with any spirits at the time. She was just telling these things so they would hear and know.

"Yumi," I called, "I want to talk to you about a vision I had! I saw something for Yuiri, but I'm not sure if it's good or bad."
