[June 10, 2007][Original] No Convincing Necessary
Title: No Convincing Necessary
Day/Theme: June 10, 2007 "I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Seif, Michaelis, Rowan
Rating: PG
"Seif," Michaelis growled, "I'm going to finish this whole fiasco once and for all, and I don't need you to do it, but I think you'd be a big help and I'm not going to let you go so easily! You can't say no! I won't let you. If you need any encouragement, you could always come to think of it in terms of revenge for Father Alywin and your comrades."
"You presume so much," Rowan chuckled slyly.
Michaelis was obviously somewhat peeved by the Cambrian's interjections. His expression melted slowly from stern to sour. "Seif, if you will," he waved, gesturing for the former Holy Knight to voice his thoughts instead of allowing Rowan to talk over the serious discussion with snide commentary.
"I..." he began, bowing his graying head, "You have no need to try and kindle a fire of revenge in my heart. I will not take vengeance on Ligaia. I don't believe that is the honest path for any Messinan to follow. Ran and Li and Christine and Uncle Alywin can rest easier without a rising count of corpses to follow them."
"Hmm," the young, blond knight frowned. "So I suppose this means you won't come along. And I thought your presence would provide great moral support to Duncan in particular."
"No, I did not say I would not come."
At this, Michaelis brightened considerably, "Oh?"
"You and I have the same ultimate goal, Sir Michaelis- a lasting peace with Ligaia. That is a goal I cannot abandon. The deaths of my friends only served to bind that ideal tighter to my heart. I want to do everything within my power to make peace a reality."
"And I'm coming with him," Rowan nodded, "Don't be concerned about my blindness. I can still look out for myself just fine."
"Well, if I'm not needed to set your hearts afire, I suppose I had best hurry back to the things I really am good at, like fighting," the appreciative young man smiled at the pair.
