The little hero priest Kiisan did not become the larger than life Chief Priest Hikusaak in a day, but from visiting the churches and museums with their displays and relics this would be difficult to tell. It is as if they were two completely different people.

In the Cathedral of the Rebel Stains a visitor can see the wisteria-patterned tunic of St. Kiisan hung behind a sheet of glass on the chapel wall. No one knows precisely where he go it, but in the midst of the revolution he was suddenly seen wearing it. He stopped when he became chief priest. His chief advisor, Sasshalai, donated the tunic to the bishop of Riverway as a gift celebrating the establishment of the new cathedral dedicated to the rebels.

St. Kiisan's boots, complete with a hole in the left toe, can be seen in Serif City's shrine to the eternal leader, along with countless pieces of revolutionary era artifacts. A village in the former state of Serif was the hero's home and birthplace and though it was the leader of the state who hoped to use him, had the turan, Magno, not encouraged him it was possible he would've found no reason to rise at all.

Father Mercade had seen these items, and the ones kept in the Crystal Valley Temple library too, but now his search for knowledge had gained a sudden edge over that of the casual museum-goer. He had received a letter from the secretary of priestly appointments asking him to be in Crystal Valley in two days. The chief priest himself had consented to an interview. However, if he did not show up quickly, there could be a shift in mood. Hikusaak was the most unpredictable man in the country. So Father Mercade hurried, gathering his tools and borrowing a horse from his brother-in-law, to make it to the Temple as swiftly as possible.

He made good time. A day later he was all but blinded by the luminous face and benevolent smile of Hikusaak. "Well, descendant of Alfred's kin, what do you have to ask me?"

Father Mercade, a true man of the ancient Mercade line, let his jaw drop momentarily, but held onto his composure. "Well, first of all, Your Holiness, why did you let your past advisor give away all your things?"
