[June 5, 2007][Suikoden] Deployment of Troops
Title: Deployment of Troops
Day/Theme: June 5, 2007 "my people shall never be ashamed"
Series: Suikoden
Character/Pairing: Lucia and Yuiri
Rating: G Sometime after IS 475.
"You're brave, Yuiri," Lucia laughed, "Choosing to take a side in a purely Harmonian conflict. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose. Either way will cost you." The retired chieftain smiled slyly and reached for a bowl of dates to offer some to her friend.
The Alma Kinan leader turned them down politely with a small wave of her hand. Staying too long in this comfortable tent-like dwelling to chat with Lucia would only delay her troops' arrival in Beilan. "The terms we have drawn up with the current government would be good for all the Grasslands if we were to win," she noted wisely, "A demilitarization of the border and an extension of trade routes- what more could we ask for from our former archenemies?"
Yuiri sat cross-legged on the warm-colored, deftly woven rugs. Lucia reached over to pat the young woman's knee. "It is acceptable, you know, to go to war not only for altruistic, but also for personal, reasons," she smiled catlike with narrowed eyes.
Though not quite a blush, a certain amount of color stained Yuiri's cheeks, visible even in the sepia shadows of the round tent. "I bring with me no personal desire for battle," she insisted calmly, "It is only a happy coincidence that I am to command my troops as a pair to the foot soldiers under Dios. I did not ask for it. And, unless I am mistaken, neither did he. It was a decision made by Julia, Sasarai, or someone else of greater distinction."
Lucia lifted her hand to her chest as she laughed heartily.
Yuiri knit her brow seriously and frowned. Was Lucia making fun of her?
"Now, don't say anything to me about it yet," Lucia chuckled, trying to take deep breaths to speak more clearly. "I was simply imagining that Sasarai, in assigning deployments, is also trying his hand at being a matchmaker."
"I-" Yuiri stumbled over her words, "I do not know if I should thank him or, or chastise him."
"Now, now," Lucia advised, "I think you should accept this blessing without a word on your part. You would do better to direct your concern to your troops, making sure they don't end up so caught up by the company of Harmonian men that they forget to fight!"
"Yes! I must keep an eye on them, thought I think my people will do nothing they would be ashamed of."
