"Here are the garments you requested, Miss Victoria."
"Why, thank you, Walter. I hope it was no trouble? It's not easy for me to get to the shops while they're open these days."
"Oh, not at all, I sent one of the maids out for them."
Fortunately, being a butler had taught him to lie smoothly. It wasn't the responsibility of the maids to go shopping, so Walter had bought these himself, under the watchful eye of a lady shopkeeper who clearly thought he was an old pervert. And he felt like one, too, because he kept picturing Seras wearing them and being unable to concentrate.
"Walter, why do you always call me 'Miss Victoria' or 'Miss Seras'? Can't you just call me Seras? After all, you're standing there holding a bag of my knickers." She showed her fangs in a grin.
Walter thought for just a moment. There was no reason for him not to call her by her first name. Except that if he did, he'd think even more about uttering phrases like 'You're a lovely woman, Seras' or eventually 'These blue ones with the white roses will look very nice on you, Seras'."
Carefully, he placed the bag on the table in her room and stepped away from it.
"I'm sorry, Miss Victoria, but a proper butler has to pay a certain respect to his employers."
"I'm not really-" she began.
"And to their guests. Please don't be offended."
"I'm not offended at all. Take care, Walter."
He left, picturing Seras Victoria in blue knickers and nothing else, profoundly grateful that she could not, in fact, read minds.
