Aang had fled by night from the Air Temple, and the moon and stars had seemed as far away as forever. Starlight and moonlight had been enough to see by, but they weren't light in themselves. They were just the absence of darkness.
Katara was calling him. He staggered out of the pile of furs and crawled out of the tent. Outside, the sun was rising, reflecting off the snow and burning in the ice.
The Water Tribe people threw long shadows behind them as they worked, ignoring the bounty of light that fell to earth like a tangible thing.
