May 7: Blood Ties. “If Only"
Title: If Only
Day/Theme: May 7: would that I had discovered you, like America
Series: original
Character/Pairing: Lorelei, Bonillo (NOT a pairing)
Rating: PG
She could feel Bonello watching her. Those pale yellow eyes followed her. As terrified as she always was now, she couldn’t help but feel contempt for him. He wanted so much more than he had. He wanted her, not so much for herself, but because she belonged to his master.
She ignored him because that’s what cut him the deepest. Even under the brain-numbing mind control they kept on her she should’ve shown some fear of him. She didn’t. The master was the only one who was able to break through and terrify her. It galled the upstart.
She could almost hear all the ifs whenever he was around. His predatory little mind hummed away under the oil-black hair. He was so ambitious and unsatisfied. She would’ve been sorry for him if she hadn’t hated him with such a passion.
If only, If I had, If they had, If that, If this. If only Bonello had actually been one of Brohm’s progeny he wouldn’t be so easily dismissed to underling status. If only it had been Bonello instead of Gaston who had found her and brought her in. If Bonello had found her, he could’ve kept her for himself, or made Brohm bargain for her.
As if he could, she thought. As if Brohm wouldn’t just snap the much younger vampire’s mind like a matchstick. Like he had hers. Despair and fear drowned her for a moment, and even that stabbed into Bonello’s pride, because it obviously wasn’t caused by him.
