He had missed the summer in Japan, Eriol realized, while he watched his Guardians play around in the garden. Or perhaps what he'd missed was summer in this house; it was difficult to tell.
The important part was that he liked moments like this. It was a warm evening, perfect for being outside. Spinel wasn't too sleepy yet and Ruby was as energetic as ever. She laughed and chased the fireflies, dragging her brother around. The little Sun Guardian pretended to be bored, but his act was beginning to fail by now.
Eriol thought he could stay like this forever.
