He had been so sure, once, that he would never be happy again. It was a matter of honour. Happiness felt like betrayal; as if he was tainting a past that had been wonderful. He wasn't going to pretend that things were the same as always.
“Just because things aren't the same doesn't mean they can't be good,” Cerberus had told him. He hadn't added 'you idiot', but his expression was eloquent.
And sometimes, when Sakura and Cerberus laughed together and he caught himself making an effort not to join them, he thought that perhaps his brother had a point.
