Its touch made eccentrics into wisemen for it spoke of higher destinies and flowed in cycles. When all was as it willed, it lulled quietly, calming its bearer with sweet visions of the past. When reform was necessary to retain stability it worked its tricks on others and discarded its old bearer for a new one to began the cycle over with.

"Who are you?" Winston had asked. The wind had left him in a gust, bowling over Katsusa and Delphine. Winston felt strangely empty without it and rather sick.
"I am Harmony," was the soft but powerful reply.

"I would like to fulfill my father's will," the youth spoke back.

"Accepting me would fully finish his will. The man you call your father- his will is another thing entirely."

"I come like Kiisan- I have no knowledge and I am no priest, but I will learn. And you will not control me."

"No one can resist me forever," the Circle Rune seemed to laugh, "And I am the only legitimate rule in this land. Try your will against mine, boy, and you will lose. But I will let you try."

Katsusa and Delphine sat on the ground, eyes wide in wonder as the new bearer accepted his burden, seeming to glow white from within. They shielded their faces from the brilliance, looking back only as it faded. Winston was still standing, though his knees shook weakly.

The thousand year journey was passing before Winston's eyes in fast motion. The rune fell to Sahi, Soon Huang, Kaiusan, Resalenda, Hikaran, Azel, to silent exile alone, Temosei, Shao Jun, the Holy Tree, and Kiisan-Hikusaak. There were so many bearers, travels, and years he felt there was no way anyone could ever keep them straight. The weight of the holy history was oppressive. The Circle wanted to show him more.

Winston opened his eyes. "No," he commanded, "Another time. I need only your power to heal my country. I don't need your memories."

"In time you will have to accept them," the rune scoffed.

"No, never unless I wish it," Winston insisted, "The man you call my father created me for this purpose- to be the bearer best suited to you and therefore equal with you. I cannot control you, but neither can you control me. Watch yourself, Harmony."
