"A most favorable union." Ouyang Ke tapped his fan against his palm, looking like a replete young tiger. "Imagine what benefits you would reap by aligning yourself with the East Heretic, Uncle. The luster it would add to both of your names."

"How are you sure that Huang Yaoshi, or his daughter, would accept your proposal?"

"And what reason is there for them to refuse? Huang Yaoshi will see the logic of it, and the girl would have to do what he orders."

"If the girl is anything like the old man, she won't give in easily. That is what this is all about, isn't it? A beautiful young lady with spirit, who doesn't succumb to your so-called charm?"

"So you will do it?"

"Silly child," Ouyang Feng said harshly; he had spoiled Ouyang Ke irreversibly, and the boy understood it too well. "Remember, you do not win Huang Yaoshi over - you impress him marginally, that's all."
