Ebon-winged and amethyst-eyed, angels haunted his dreams. Her hair like black silk tied in ponytails on either side of her head. Her skin like fine china, a tracery of veins just visible beneath.
The Seraph smiled with heart-breaking sweetness, an irresistible invitation. He reached out to her. Maybe it would be different this time.
Yet the winged-one blurred straight through him, into the waiting arms of a silver-haired youth.
At this point, he would wake, his single emerald eye snapping open suddenly. The bitter taste of loneliness welled up as the remains of the night stretched out, cold and dark before him.
