The first few times it still surprised him to see her, even after all the explanations and reassurances. He wondered, sometimes, if she'd ever been there when he couldn't see her yet. Nadeshiko was something intangible, something he just... felt. She was just like a dream, ethereal, and he was always afraid of waking up and losing her again.
I will stay, she promised. I will stay as long as you need me.
Fujitaka didn't know how to tell her that he wasn't a child who'd get more confident when he grew up, and that he might need her forever.
