2nd April | Harry Potter | Should Evening Fall
Title: Should Evening Fall
Day/Theme: 2 April / in the sunlight

"He'll be home by nightfall."
"I know."
They sit propped against the backyard fence, overgrown with the neighbor's wisteria. Harry's been put to bed; the sun sets in long rays through the nimbus clouds; there is an ending in the air.
She watches something beyond the sky. "It's been....four months."
Her gaze falls into his.
There are words, some strange soft words exchanged between them, their notes mostly swallowed by the wisteria. I've fallen for you, he doesn't have to know, etc. Words are inconsequential and at this particular hour, mean nothing. He turns away first.
"You could leave him." He says. His tone is flippant, his mouth dares not show its desperation.
She only smiles.
All the same, underneath nightfall, the sun sets with the world on its yellow shoulders. There's still some daylight left. They watch in silence and their fingers, worming through wet grass and phlox, touch.
