The plains were green and bright before his eyes; the enemies were plenty to challenge his spirit. Yet he longed for ice and rock and mountains, places hard and cold around him.
They were going to Mt. Gagazet now, all of them, and they asked him now and then if he was looking forward to it. He tried to answer, in his awkward words, that he was, but it was mostly a lie. If Biran fell, he might look forward to that, but if not... Kimahri would see his homeland, but all the Ronso would see was a broken horn.
