[March 19] [FFX-2] [Waking Nightmare]
Title: Waking Nightmare
Day/Theme: March 19. how painful dreams can be unless you know they're merely dreams
Series: FFX-2
Character/Pairing: Rikku, Gippal, Shuyin
Rating: PG-13, maybe, for gore
There is pain forking through her body, agonizing in its intensity, and it makes tears spring to her swirled eyes. An arc of light—edged in razor-sharp nostalgia that cuts her more easily than the whirring blade itself—flashes toward her, digging into the tender flesh of her stomach. Blood rushes out of the wound, running down her legs and creating a pool of crimson at her feet. He quirks a cocky grin at her—making her heart pang—and springs away again.
Little honey-colored ribbons of flesh dangle from the edge of the deep gash, peeling away to fall to the stone ground. To her credit, she doesn’t scream. Instead, she crumples, bleeding and cursing the swarm of pyreflies fluttering all around her.
It isn’t him, she tells herself. Only a monster wearing his face.
