Their arms closed around each other and everything felt safe while fear disappeared. They sang to each other, and peace settled. Their lips met and the world became warmth, light, and comfort. It didn't matter what they had done that others viewed as crimes. Right here, now, mattered. Being so close, touching finally, the ruse discarded and the truth revealed. Fiyero didn't know how capable Glinda was of holding a grudge but he knew she would likely become former friend to Elphaba and resent him. Nessa was dead, Boq turned hateful, their other former classmates long lost from the frivolous days at Shiz. No recourse.

But they had each other, at long last, and it was the only thing that felt right amidst all else.
