[Nov. 11, 2006][Suikoden] Equally Out of Time
Title: Equally Out of Time
Day/Theme: Nov. 11, 2006 wind-time, wolf-time
Series: Suikoden II
Character/Pairing: Ayda x Kinnison
Rating: G
The calendar of the forests was not the same as that of the outside world of busy people. In the forests, the moon marked the months and the seasons turned the year, but time was often irrelevant. Things just took as long as they took. Growing up amidst the greenery of western Dunan's wooded lands, Ayda knew this very well. A chick hatched when it was ready, a tree lost its leaves when it was cold enough; the rebel army was different. The people there felt the pressure of days and hours weighing down upon them. Shu planned each battle as carefully as he could manage and everyone involved did their part when it was time.
Ayda did the work she was asked to do. At some times she moved swift as an arrow, but at others she knew how to stay perfectly calm and still. There was a time and place for all things- she understood this too. But she was different from most people at the castle and so she spent her time alone or on the roof with the griffon, Feather. Of course, a few of her fellow inhabitants of Seawood Castle were interesting enough to merit more than just a passing glance...
Wolf-time was really the same as the forest-time followed by Ayda. Kinnison had not lived on wolf-time as a young child, but had adopted it gradually as he lived as a hunter near Ryube. He had realize early on that Shiro was not going to change to live more like him (and neither was the forest, for that matter), so it would make the most sense for him to learn to be like Shiro.
By this time he had grown so used to his own peculiar pace of life that the castle seemed hectic on even the slowest day. It was almost dizzying. There was one woman though who seemed as fazed as he was by all of it. She was quiet and solemn and spoke with the most elegant griffon he had ever laid eyes on. He learned her name from Leona. The cranberry-haired huntress was Ayda.
He hoped what little they already had in common would be enough to start a conversation with her as he approached the forest woman below the trees outside the library one day...
