Amri wakes with a start. An elvish curse slides out from her mouth. She licks her lips, swallowing a few times to clear the moss that has grown there overnight. Sitting upright, Amri puts both feet on the floor and runs her hands through her hair before settling across her face.
“What did I do last night?” mutters the slender elf. Not expecting an answer, a soft groan escapes.
“You got drunk again to chase away the memories of him and the hatred from your heart.”
Amri bolts upright looking around her small inn room. There is nothing out of the ordinary. Cursing again, she raises her hand to her forehead, blaming the hangover for the now apparent hallucinations. She notices Finola, her guardian tiger, looking straight at her.
“The link has always been there; you just chose not to listen to it” came the voice again.
“Finola?”
If a 200 lb tiger could smirk, Finola did. “Who else would it be?” the voice now more directly within Amri’s mind causing her to wince once again.
“Ugh. This can’t be happening. I’ve gone and drank myself mad.”
“You are going to drink yourself dead. This ‘madness’ is only the beginning. No more wandering mistress. You cannot run away from your anger nor can you fight it. You need to seek forgiveness; seek out Elune.”
“Elune! What did she ever do for me? Nothing. She lured me with her moon magic to the arms of my beloved and then I lost him, to another. Someone better. Perhaps even a priestess that sings the song of Elune.”
Amri sighs and bites her lip. It starts to tremble as her head pounds. She whispers “How can I ever forgive him or Her? My life was fine before he came. It was beautiful while he was in it. And now… it is no longer my life.”
“You love him.”
“ More than the blood that gives me life.”
“We’ll go no more a-roving Amri.”growled Finola softly as her body collapses on the floor, daring Amri to try to leave the room with a simple lift of lip, showing her teeth. “Seek Elune. She will give you the answers for compassion. She will show you the beauty in the love you still hold for Bran.”
Amri covers her eyes as teardrops fall to the floor, making a small puddle. “I can’t. Elune forsook me.”
Finola lets a small sigh out between her teeth and settles her head upon her paws. This was going to take some time. She ignored the sobbing elf, content that Amri would find her path.
