Haru stares into the murky brown liquid in his cup. It’s been a while since he’s seen Rin and he’s wandered over to Kagura’s home, hoping she’s seen Rin. She hasn’t, but invites him in for some coffee. Haru wasn’t sure why he’d accepted, he could have been out and looking for Rin still, but a cup of hot coffee on this drizzly morning had been appealing. So he’d accepted.

He had sort of thought that Kagura might leave him alone, maybe have a cup of coffee, a small, trivial conversation. But no, she had plunked herself down next to him and was staring at him, waiting for him to acknowledge her presence. Which he wouldn’t, he’d rather stare morosely into his coffee and think of Rin and where she could be. He saw out of the corner of his eye that Kagura was fidgeting. Whatever was on her mind must be important, something she wasn’t going to let go easily.

With a deep sigh, Haru turned to face her, still cradling the coffee, and simply said, “what?”

“You know perfectly well what!” She paused, waiting for
He would have cried at the sheer thought of what he had done to Rin. Instead he just stared at his coffee. H Haru to respond, which wouldn’t be forthcoming. He was smarter then to add fuel to Kagura’s fire. “Fine then, be that way! We both know it’s about Rin. First you deserted her when she needed you most!”

Haru opened his mouth to protest, that Rin had locked him out, but seeing the gleam in Kagura’s eye, shut his mouth and waited.

“I know what you’re going to say, that she didn’t want you anymore. How dense can you be? I mean, everyone else knew she was trying to be all noble, but you had to be so…literal about it. You knew something was wrong and didn’t care? Do you even really care about her? You knew she was hurting and still you let her go down that self-destructive path! What kind of boyfriend are you?” Kagua panted, out of breath from her speech.

Haru sat there, slightly stunned at the revelations that Kagura’s speech had brought about. He also knew he was lucky she hadn’t used her fists to hammer points home. Quietly he admitted to her last question. “A bad one.”
e put it back on the table. He knew what he had to do now.

He stood and walked back into the rain, and says softly over his shoulder, “Thanks Kagura.”
