[14-Sep-2022][Gilmore Girls] Ought

Title: Ought
Date/Prompt: "Where's the rest of them?"/09-14-22
Fandom: Gilmore Girls
Character: Rory Gilmore
Ratings/Warning: 172wc.
It's a lesson in individuality.. or something like that. She wants to chronicle her life like the greats of Stephen King and Ursula, but her writing isn't theirs.

She writes like her mother talks, and her mother writes like Rory is supposed to, which really, feels like a subject of contention she'd rather not mention. Her academic works are fantastic, Rory knows. She's long accepted that she's not so bad, and she's gotten used to appraisal, but that's about it. Rory can't feel the same looking at her creative works.

The motto of 'show don't tell' is one that Rory tries following as a writer, but her awkward ramblings and particular writing style make sounding stoic hard. Her constant references, her mulligans—Lorelai Gilmore the 3rd has a life quite unpredictable. She isn't holding back the flowery language, resisting the vivid descriptions of Luke's hairline of her mother's bookshelf of heels.

Rory ought to, but doesn't. She aspires to be one of the greats. but like everything else, she's falling severely short.
