"I just found an entire archive that I didn't know about."

With their plans for the day scuttled by a relentless cold rain, Fujio and Balmung -he was absolutely Balmung even in real life and he was wearing that pullover hoodie with the wings painted on to prove it- were both sitting at Fujio's abysmally-tiny kitchen table, legs half-woven together, Balmung's laptop taking up most of the space. Fujio had been debating what to do about lunch...

"Archive?"

"Of fanfiction!"

Fujio shivered but he already had a sweater on. Questionable fanfiction was possibly better than some of Balmung's other reading material, but he just knew he'd be hearing more about it than he wanted to.

Besides, fanfiction about The World, and Fujio assumed this was an archive of fanfiction about The World, tended to skew towards player-characters and not be interesting to most other players. So...

"I'm in this one!"

"I should see what I can make us for lunch."

Balmung didn't look up from his laptop as Fujio pushed his chair back. He wasn't sure he wanted to ask. He wondered if he could run to the nearby conbini without catching a chill. He...

"What? I'm a side-character? I've only been mentioned once... Reki..."

Balmung looked up and Reki knew that look. He knew it too well. And he took on the posture of his avatar and stared back.

"Absolutely not," he said. "Whatever you're thinking, absolutely not. It is not a good idea and I'm not doing it."

"Fine..."

No, that was too easy.

"I'm going to the store."

"I'll go with you."

Way too-- No, there it was. Plenty of time for an entire story pitch of some sort but also plenty of time to shoot it down.

Fujio glanced out at the rain.

"Okay," Reki replied.
