Day/Theme: 17 Sept/ I found her crying in the morning

Notes/warnings: Timelines for both series have been viciously tweaked to create the scenario I have in mind.
Growing up, Ryuichi knew his mother was unlike everyone else's. She wore men's clothes, fought like a miracle, and was unabashedly emotional, laughing loudly when she was happy and bawling like a child when she was sad. It was totally unlike anyone else in the gokudo.
Ryuichi secretly found it embarrassing.
Then there was the morning when the doctors came, after a night of surgery, to tell them that Aniki would never wake up; and even if he did, he would never walk again. Ryuichi remembered his mother's face with a stab to his heart, even now. She hadn't cried.
