In a game of chess, every piece holds equal weight on the board. It never pays to forget this.
Now that the queen's been pushed off the board, Lord Solendar has directed all his attention to the bishops and knights in his pursuit of a checkmate. He's forgotten one important fact.
Gale's stare burns like a physical brand against his skin, and as she presses her ill-gotten sword against his throat, the elf allows himself a moment of bitter regret at his shortsightedness.
Even a pawn, allowed to cross the board unhindered, may be crowned a Queen.
