Aizen's personal code of morality might be described as tidy up after yourself, and he always tried not to disappoint that inner censor. When planning his assumption of power, he did his best to tie off every loose end along the way.

He was a responsible man. Leaving work behind unfinished, leaving that dear girl uncertain and confused -- well, that was quite unthinkable. No. Everything had to be sorted out.

He'd known her so long. He'd been so proud of her; how she'd grown, how she'd learned, how well she conquered her daily fear and done her duty. His little vice-captain, with her nervousness and her neediness and her quick darting eyes . . .

Really, there had been nothing to do but kill her. He hoped she appreciated it.

She had been smiling to see him, after all.
