[OCT 6] [PERSONA 3] MOSAIC PARTINGS
Title: Mosaic Partings
Day/Theme: 6th October 2009; They whisper, "Goodbye, goodbye," in a falling mist
Series: Persona 3
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Yukari, Aigis; implied Yukari/MC, implied Aigis/MC
Rating: G
Notes: Spoilers for the "true ending" of P3 and FES.
It has been three months, one week, five days, four hours, twentynine minutes and thirtyseven seconds since he left them. Aigis can count it out clearly enough; it's one of the benefits of having an internal clock that's actually digital instead of biological. Yukari's not as exact and slower at producing an answer, but she too can easily count backwards to that day. It's not grieving - they've done enough of that already - but simply... remembering.
There are days, like today, when one of them catches the other thinking about it. Sometimes they find themselves both thinking of him at the same time. In these moments they have a mutual agreement: they will clear up their schedule as best as they can and then they will leave the dormitory. The destination matters very little, and they usually find themselves wandering Port Island Station or sitting on a bench at the shrine. Today is no exception, and this time their journey has brought them to the nearby park. The surroundings are quiet, for the children who usually play there are noticeably absent.
Sometimes they talk. At times Yukari will be the first to break the silence, remarking quietly about what he would've had to say about the latest events at school. Other times it is Aigis who speaks first, usually beginning with a fond recollection of some moment in the distant past. They will talk mostly, laugh sometimes, and there will be the occasional descents into silence. Sometimes neither of them will say anything at all, both choosing to lose themselves in the quiet and their own individual memories.
(There was a day where Yukari had asked Aigis if what they were doing was mourning, and if they should just stop. The blonde had smiled and merely told her that wallowing in their grief and recalling a painful past were two different things, and moving on didn't mean they weren't allowed to look back every now and then. The archer had smiled and nodded in response, and never mentioned it again.)
Regardless of what they choose to do, both of them are mindful to get back to their dorm before darkness falls. When that hour comes, they dust off their clothes and head back -whether in silence or in conversation depends on what kind of day it had been. Once they reach their room, they will go about their routine as usual and prepare for tomorrow. At night they will go to sleep, and tomorrow they will be as they were before. Yukari will berate Junpei for sleeping in class as usual, and Aigis will smile bemusedly as the boy consequentially pours his woes out to her in a most dramatic fashion.
Yes, tonight they will sleep, and tomorrow they will resume living the lives he sacrificed himself to give them.
But for now they will reminisce until evening comes, when they will bid him farewell once more until the next time.
