[July 30] [Vurt] Set Your Hope on Fire
Title: Set Your Hope on Fire
Day/Theme: July 30 - for I have made her prison be her every step away from me
Series: Vurt
Character/Pairing: Beetle, Scribble, Mandy
Rating:G
He made sure he wasn't around when Scribble left.
It was bad enough with Mandy there, in that flat full of ghosts, because she didn't understand. The van, the wonderful van, all up in flames with sleeping Bridget and Big Thing, and there was Mandy with big eyes and bright red lips, in it for the fun, not for this.
So he walked down to the corner on a rainy evening (it was always raining, it seemed), and when he got back the flat was even more empty than before.
"He just up and went off." Mandy sat at the table, toying with a spoon (red-smudge of lipstick), empty cereal bowl in front of her. "What now, Bee?"
"He'll come back. Always does." It was a good lie, and nice lie, and he followed it up with a good old Beetle smirk, and somewhere across the city, Manchester, rain-soaked city full of nice lies, Scribble was finding himself a new name.
