He had planned to spend the night hanging out with his good friends – Usami Akihiko and Kamijou Hiroki, but something had come up and he had to watch Misaki, who had came down with a fever, instead. He truly didn't mind though. Misaki was just too cute. The 8-year-old boy pouted as he held on to his mother's skirt.
“Hurry back home, okay? Promise you'll hurry, okay?”
She laughed, patting her son on the head and gave him an affirmative.
So when their parents left, Takahiro made the best of their time. They played all sorts of games. Board games, video games, and word games.
They played games until Misaki was tired out. Misaki yawned, glancing out at the rainy sky up at the barely visible stars. “Unfair Kaachan!” he slurred, eyes growing heavy. “You promised you'd hurry... Ah! Niichan! Niichan! Look! A falling star!”
Takahiro laughed. “So it is!”
He blinked as the phone rang. “I better get that. It might be mom or dad!”
He answered... it definitely wasn't his parents, but a deep sympathetic voice... And just like that falling star, Takahiro felt the weight of his and Misaki's word come crashing down.
