Character/Pairing: Zuko, Katara

Zuko, as the leader of a nation, was used to having all eyes on him. Just not like this. (He shuddered to think what the gossip around the palace was going to be tomorrow.)
"Fire Lord Zuko," said Katara. "May I have a word?"
Zuko rose from his chair, trying not to look at the foreign dignitaries whose gaze had uniformly turned towards the two of them. "Of course."
Katara, naturally, took this as an excuse to pull him around the corner by the collar. "What," she hissed, "were you doing back there?"
Zuko raised an eyebrow. "Bailing you out," he said. "You don't have very good negotiation skills, by the way."
She flushed. "I don't need your help."
"That's good. Because I didn't plan on giving you any more."
"Good," she said. After a moment, she looked away. "--sorry. That wasn't right of me. Thank you."
"Don't bother. I didn't do it for you."
It was a complete lie, of course, but luckily, Katara didn't catch on.
