“Don’t you ever compare us,” Elaine hissed through her teeth, she’d already been angry at her captor but for him, to even dare, imply that they were the same had sent her into pure rage.

Her captor, however, seemed completely calm and unfazed by her rage, “We’re supposed to be together.”

“Why?” even in her rage there was a tinge of helplessness, a feeling of weakness and weariness from asking and answering the same questions again and again.

“Don’t ye see it?” he held out his hands feebly, as if genuinely confused by her refusal of him, “Ye belong with a true pirate, a true captain, like your grandfather…” Elaine growled at the mention of her grandfather, but he didn’t seem to notice, “Ye are a pirate as well, eh? Can’t ye see how we belong together?”

“You’re a monster!” Elaine snarled, her breathing became heavy as she struggled to keep herself from screaming at him, “I know what you’ve done to people, to your fellow pirates, to anyone who you thought was finally going to give you what you deserved!”

He stared at her for a moment, dumfounded, what was wrong with the things he’d done? He didn’t know and he sure wasn’t going to justify completely understandable actions to her, “I see some of maself in ye.”

Elaine gasped, biting her lip and wondering just what the hell he thought he was talking about, “What?”

“I see it” he said simply, “I see things in ye that remind me of maself at a young age, maybe as a teenager.”

“You’re crazy.”

“I know.” he smirked and placed a cold hand under her chin, “I’ll have ye one of these days.”

Elaine sighed, she’d heard these words so many times and every time she simply refused to accept them, “you’ll never have me, LeChuck, you’ll never win.”

He gripped her chin hard for a moment, causing her to wince, but he let go and stared her straight in the eyes, “Ye be as stubborn as me, Elaine, but ye will give in and I’ll be there when ye do.”

He left her alone then, storming out of the room and slamming the door like an angry child. Elaine simply stood there, lost in her own thoughts, she did realise that he had the same stubbornness and fiery spirit that she had but she hoped and prayed that no other traits of that monster were inside of her.
